Fortuna Sittard edged ADO Den Haag 3-2 in Den Haag to rise from eighth to fourth in the Eredivisie on Sunday.
In the 29th minute, Mohammed Ihattaren broke the deadlock with a low finish. Lequincio Zeefuik then glanced in a header from Ihattaren's cross (34.) to put the visitors in control.
Before the interval, Mattijs Branderhorst saved smartly from Daryl Van Mieghem as the hosts chased a response.
A double change at half time sharpened ADO's threat and Yannick Eduardo halved the deficit from Evan Rottier's pass (59.). Ihattaren restored the cushion with a strike from outside the box (62.), but substitute Jesse Bal headed in Juho Kilo's cross in the first minute of second half stoppage time to set up a frantic finish.
Seven minutes of added time were indicated and ADO kept pushing, with late pressure yielding half chances that went begging.
Fortuna Sittard were clinical, scoring three times from five shots on target across eight attempts. ADO Den Haag saw 58.1% possession and delivered 33 crosses but produced only three efforts on target.
Next, ADO Den Haag visit FC Twente. Fortuna Sittard host Ajax.
