The 11-player shortlist for the 2026 Marc-Vivien Foé award, honouring Ligue 1's best African player, has been unveiled.
According to L'Équipe, France 24 and RFI announced the nominees, with the prize running since 2009. The successor to Achraf Hakimi, the 2025 winner, will emerge from this group.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a two-time winner in 2013 and 2024, is nominated again at 36 and could complete an unprecedented hat-trick.
Senegal are represented by Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, Lorient forward Bamba Dieng, who has 13 goals in 19 matches in all competitions, and Lyon defender Moussa Niakhaté.
Ivorians Guéla Doué, among the league's standout right-backs, and left-sided team-mate Martial Godo are the Strasbourg duo. Burkina Faso pair Arsène Kouassi of Lorient and Angers goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, who has 10 clean sheets this season, are also included.
The list is completed by Aïssa Mandi of Lille, Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré, and Paris FC playmaker Ilan Kebbal, credited with driving his club's promotion to Ligue 1.
The award commemorates former Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foé, who died of cardiac arrest during the 2003 Confederations Cup in France.
