Something of a war of words appears to be brewing at the very top of the Spanish football landscape.

This comes amid fresh public tension between La Liga president Javier Tebas, and Real Madrid counterpart Florentino Pérez.

For those who may have missed it, early on Tuesday, major claims surrounding Tebas’ position began to spread in the Spanish media.

The claims in question pointed towards the Spanish patron as being in line for a potentially lengthy suspension on the part of The Administrative Court of Sport.

Why? A formal complaint lodged against Tebas by way of Real Madrid, owing to what Los Blancos labelled a ‘serious’ infraction.

Safe to say, however, that one individual adamant that no such suspension will be forthcoming, is Tebas himself.

Taking to social media on Tuesday evening, the La Liga chief released an absolutely unwavering statement, in the process taking firm aim at Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.

The key takeaways from the statement can be read below:

“I am not going to be disqualified. It is a long road, but I hope that in the different stages I can win it definitively. It is the commitment of the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez. What he is not able to do is convince the clubs, what he is not able to do is convince the clubs of Spain or Europe, is to try to find other ways to try to get rid of the one who is democratically elected in LaLiga. Which in this case is me.”

Tebas continued:

“I have to highlight the support of the vast majority of the clubs that make up our league, to whom I thank the support they are giving me because it serves as encouragement to face these situations, which is not the first time I have had to face. We will get through it, as we have done every time. All those who think that the president Javier Tebas is going to be disqualified, keep sitting and waiting because that is not going to be the case.

“It was opened by two complaints from Real Madrid. One was filed when José Manuel Franco was Secretary of State and the other with Víctor Francos. Neither of the two raised the complaint to the TAD. In other words, due to administrative silence, Real Madrid was denied the complaints they had made. It was only with the arrival of the new Secretary of State, Mr. Uribes, when three months after being in his position he decided to raise the complaint to the TAD. Three months to think about whether to raise the complaint to the TAD… It is evident that other issues or other people had to have influenced him to make that elevation in search of the objective that is being sought from the presidency of Real Madrid. He is not going to achieve it.

“Regarding the meeting of August 12, it should be noted that a disciplinary file is being opened because it was called urgently, because it was called eight days in advance and the urgency was not justified… And not with ten days, which would not have been necessary to justify. A question of form. But in addition, at the bottom of that meeting, in the end the CVC agreement was not discussed as planned, but was left in suspense because it was decided that Athletic, Real Madrid and Barcelona would not be accepted due to the expenses that the CVC operation could entail in the joint accounts. That agreement was carried over to December, when it was approved. An agreement that Real Madrid also challenged again and lost in court, and which has been ratified by the same courts.”
