Signing a left winger remains top of Manchester United’s agenda, and Iliman Ndiaye is among INEOS’ leading targets.
The magical Everton man’s brilliance has truly captivated those in charge at Old Trafford.
United chiefs believe the 24‑year‑old’s rare blend of street football flair, elite close control, and relentless work rate is precisely what they have been missing on the left flank.
Identifying Ndiaye as the ideal heir to Marcus Rashford was straightforward; however, securing his signature this summer will be anything but.
A few weeks ago, reports suggested the AFCON winner had privately assured David Moyes of his commitment to the Everton project.
And now, in an interview with The Times, the winger has made it abundantly clear where he intends to play his football next season.
The winger admits he is aware of the interest in his services:
“I see it. I’m not that type of person to just go on X or Instagram because I’m a chill person. I’m calm. Football can take you anywhere. If, like you said, there’s these teams that are interested, it means that you’re doing something good.”
But he quickly affirms:
“As long as I’m at Everton, I’ll always give my best for them, and I want to achieve things with Everton, starting with this season and getting into Europe.”
For the Toffees, these words will be a source of delight, reassuring them that their star man has no plans to leave any time soon.
For United, however, they represent a significant setback in their search for a winger.
Having already missed out on Antoine Semenyo, Ndiaye could have been the next best left‑winger steal from league rivals. Clearly, that will not be the case.
INEOS therefore have little choice but to strike him off their wishlist.
Fortunately, another capable option remains: Yan Diomande. The RB Leipzig man possesses the skillset to satisfy United’s ambition of recruiting a left‑winger who can transform their attack.
