Succumbing to a second 3-2 loss in a row – this time against Dortmund – Christian Ilzer described the pain in TSG Hoffenheim's dressing room after the game.
“It doesn't feel good right now, sitting here with zero points after two games," the Sinsheim club's head coach said in his post-match interview in the mixed zone.
"The lads had an extremely strong week of training after the Köln game. They implemented it very well in the first 60 minutes, which impressed me.
"We also showed a good reaction after the quickfire double. We felt we wanted to score the 3-2 goal. In the end, we're left with zero points, but we can build on the performance.
“We didn't make enough of our scoring chances. With a 2-0 lead, you can't let up even a millimeter, and we were punished for that today,” Ilzer concluded.
Hoffenheim must dust themselves off and prepare for next Saturday's meeting with VfB Stuttgart before their Europa League campaign opens with a trip to OFI Crete.
