Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has made a big claim about his former club and is happy to go on record about it.

Cole is often doing pundit duties and various different interviews talking about the club he still supports, Chelsea FC. And this week there has been another interview dropped with Cole talking about Chelsea and the season aspirations they have.

Cole says he is happy to go on record and say that Chelsea will not win the league this season.

In words quoted on X this week, Cole says:

“This season, the expectation has to be for Chelsea to comfortably get into the Champions League position and mount a challenge in the league.

“I don’t think the squad’s strong enough to compete with Arsenal. I’m happy to go on record saying that now, they won’t win the league.”

I agree with him here as well, Chelsea aren’t there yet and they are still just too inconsistent.

My colleague has written about one Chelsea midfielder who he believes is overhyped and just needs to get back to basics first and foremost before anything else.

Personally, I think that’s a bit harsh on Lavia. He does a lot of the dog work and also plays in a way that a lot of his stuff goes un-noticed. He’s a very class technical player.

My colleague also believes there is an argument against both Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens starting more games right now. Again, personally I don’t think there is and I think both of them have earned starts on merit right now.
