Viljami Sinisalo will get the nod from Brendan Rodgers as the Celtic manager looks to give minutes to as many players as possible in the remaining two league matches so that his squad as well prepared as possible for the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen at Hampden on Saturday 24 May.

Sinisalo has made quite an impression at Celtic

Sinisalo of course has made quite an impression since breaking into the Celtic first team after Schmeichel’s shoulder injury picked up in Lisbon in the recent international break. With Celtic’s Great Dane returning at the weekend, and likely to feature against St Mirren on Trophy Day at Celtic Park on Saturday, it remains to be seen which keeper will get the gloves at Hampden.

“I suppose nothing’s a given in football,” Sinisalo

“I suppose nothing’s a given in football,” Sinisalo said, as he spoke to the written mainstream media on Friday afternoon at Lennoxtown. This is a separate interview to the media conference that you already know about when the Finland international keeper called out the Ibrox yobs for pelting him with around 40 missiles in the recent Glasgow Derby.

He was talking about whether he thinks he will start against Aberdeen at Hampden. “I’m not even focusing that far ahead. I’m just trying to enjoy the moment. Every chance you get to play is a privilege. I’m just happy I’ve now had the chance to play and I’m trying to show to people that probably haven’t seen me as much of what I am and what I’m about,” he said as reported by Glasogw Times.

‘Then if the manager makes the decision, the manager makes the decision’

“That’s all you can do. Then if the manager makes the decision, the manager makes the decision. But I can only do what I can on the pitch and try and show in training and on the pitch what I’m about.

“If you asked me three months ago of the games that I’ve now had since I’ve been in the team, I’ve obviously played at Tannadice in the league clinching game and played at Hampden, played at Ibrox. So, I would have been happy in terms of that.

“Every game as a Celtic keeper requires different things”

“I’ve managed to experience different things. Every game as a Celtic keeper requires different things. Whether you’re playing Kilmarnock at home where you have one shot and you’re just passing it, or whether you go to Ibrox and you’re expected to make a couple more saves and be very composed on the ball.

“I’m just trying to prove that I can be a Celtic goalkeeper for the foreseeable.”

“But every game is different and you need that bit of a run of games to kind of show that you can do all those things. You can go in for one or two games and I suppose you can look alright, but it’s whether you can then do it for 10 games, 20 games, 30 games, which, for instance, Kasper has done for us this season.

“So, I’m just trying to prove that I can be a Celtic goalkeeper for the foreseeable.”
