Eintracht CEO Axel Hellmann shares his confidence in the team, puts their impressive season into perspective and calls on the Eintracht family to stick together on the final day.
Dino Toppmöller’s team can make history at SC Freiburg on Matchday 34 by qualifying automatically for the UEFA Champions League via the Bundesliga for the very first time. Eintracht CEO Axel Hellmann on …. … Matchday 34: “We’ve already experienced so much at Eintracht Frankfurt and know that things are often decided on Matchday 34. I’m neither afraid nor anxious about it.”
… past final-day experiences: “For those who don’t remember, we’ve been involved in crucial relegation play-off ties. I was far more anxious before those key games than in this situation. I know there’s a lot at stake, but we’ve got European football in the bag and can cap an outstanding season by qualifying for the Champions League. It’s a huge opportunity.”
… the Champions League: “I know we’re comfortable and at home in the Europa League, but this is about reaching the next level of competition. It’s within our grasp. We can pull it off on the final day.”
… putting matters into perspective: “Every now and then, you get the sense that we’re on the brink of relegation. I don’t accept that because it doesn’t reflect the situation we’re in. To those on the outside who might want to unsettle us, I say: ‘We couldn’t care less.’ You have to win on and off the pitch in these situations. It’s about football and winning the match, not about life and death.”
… Eintracht: “Whenever there’s a decisive game, the club has to step up. It’s about mobilising the surroundings, the fans and everything we have. This club is capable of doing that and that’s what we need for Saturday.”
