During a press conference for the France national team, Brice Samba (30) has cast some doubt on his future at RC Lens by admitting that he will “not close any doors this summer” to a move away from the northern club.

Samba was responding to the rumours circulating across social media that he is a transfer target for Olympique de Marseille. Les Phocéens appear to be in the market for a new goalkeeper with Pau López linked with a move to Serie A side Como 1907.

The Lens number one looks like a good fit for what Roberto De Zerbi will look for in a goalkeeper. His ability with the ball at his feet were a key aspect of Lens’ game, and they would likely translate well to the new project building in La Provence.

Samba admitted that he had seen the rumours and that it was no secret that he has a certain affection for Marseille having joined the club from Le Havre AC in 2013. However, the goalkeeper went on to explain, “We’ll see what Lens’ position is. I’m captain so I don’t think Lens will want to get rid of me that easily.”

Samba continued, “I’m very, very proud to be the captain of Lens. If I have to stay at Lens, I’ll stay. But I’m not closing any doors this summer, we’ll see what happens.”
