Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Andoni Iraola would open the door to a potential Manchester United move this summer.

It comes after David Ornstein confirmed that the coveted manager would be leaving Bournemouth when his contract expires in June, despite the club doing their utmost to persuade him to stay.

Andoni Iraola to bid farewell to Bournemouth after stellar three-year reign

Alas, Iraola will be pulling the curtains on his tenure at the Vitality Stadium after three years, during which he guided the Cherries to their highest Premier League finish (ninth) and points record (56) in 2024/2025.

Even now, heading into their final six matches of the campaign, he could leave on a monumental high if the side are able to secure European qualification for the first-ever time in their history.

Bournemouth are outside candidates, given they sit 10th-placed in the table, but only six points separate them and sixth-placed Chelsea.

What’s more, the Dorset outfit are now on a remarkable 12-game unbeaten streak, more recently overseeing an emphatic 2-1 victory against league leaders Arsenal at the Emirates last Saturday afternoon.

Could Iraola be headed for M16?

Any managerial updates lately are almost always certain to prompt headlines involving United, given their current uncertain situation in the dugout.

After recording six wins and one draw in his first seven games in charge, fans were on board with the prospect of keeping Michael Carrick long-term.

Plenty are still of the same stance, but United claiming only four points from their last four outings has seen Carrick lose some backing amongst the United faithful.

As a result, the news of Iraola’s impending Bournemouth exit has led to speculation he could be Old Trafford-bound – and Romano had his say on the matter last night.

“If you ask me, ‘Would Andoni Iraola like to be the next Manchester United manager this summer or in the future?’,  I’m told that he would be open to that, for sure,” Romano revealed on his YouTube channel.
