The Chile international joined the Canaries in the summer of 2022 from Universidad Catolica for a fee in excess of £3m, and he has gone on to feature regularly for the side over the past two years.

Nunez particularly flourished in the previous campaign, as Norwich finished in the play-off places, although they were well beaten by Leeds United over two legs in the semi-final.

Following that loss, there has been plenty of change at Carrow Road, with Johannes Hoff Thorup replacing David Wagner as head coach.

And, a busy summer window is expected to follow, with Norwich going to face a battle to keep hold of several key men after they failed to seal a return to the top-flight.

Gabriel Sara is thought to be on the radar of Premier League clubs, and it’s a similar story for Josh Sargent after his goalscoring exploits last season.

It also seems there are doubts about the future of Nunez, as reports from Turkey have revealed that Trabzonspor have lodged an offer in the region of €3.5m for the 24-year-old.

The bid is described as their ‘first’ one for the player, and it’s highly unlikely that the Canaries would consider cashing in for such a sum, as it would represent a small profit. Plus, the player has two years left on his contract, so there’s no real pressure to sell in this window on that front.

It’s fair to say news of the bid didn’t go down well among the Norwich fan base, and that was reflected by Huckerby, who took to social media to make it clear that the midfielder should cost a lot more.

“Why would we sell him? I'm worth more than that and I'm 48 years old with 1 hip!”

There’s no indication that the Canaries are open to selling the player, and it remains to be seen whether Trabzonspor are going to return with a bigger offer should this be turned down.

Norwich City’s summer plans

This is a crucial period for Norwich, as they need to back Thorup as much as possible, and he will no doubt have players that he wants to bring in to suit the new style of play that he is trying to implement.

From the outside, it would seem as though Nunez is a good fit, as he is technically comfortable, and he has proven in the past two years that he is capable of performing in the Championship.

Elsewhere, as outlined above, there will be interest in several of the Norwich squad, and those funds are sure to be given to the new boss and the recruitment team to make the additions they need.
