In Cotia, U20s beat Fortaleza in Brasileiro; U17s draw at América-MG

São Paulo beat Fortaleza 1-0 this Tuesday (23) at CFA Laudo Natel, in Cotia (SP), in the 18th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The winning goal was scored by Angelo.

Under heavy rain, Tricolor controlled most of the match. In the first half, Nicolas Kauan hit the crossbar with a header, while Lucyan threatened from a free kick that went just wide of the left post.

In the second half, São Paulo kept up the pressure on the opposition and was rewarded in the 21st minute. After a rebound from the goalkeeper, Angelo controlled the ball, dribbled past his marker, and finished with his right foot into the corner to secure the Made In Cotia side’s victory. Due to the heavy rain, the match was even suspended for 30 minutes after the goal. When play resumed, the score remained unchanged.

With the result, the team moved up to 22 points in the competition.

The Under-17s were also in action this Tuesday. In the fifth round of the Brazilian Championship for the category, Tricolor drew 0-0 with América-MG away from home.With the result, the team reached four points.

The next fixtures for both of Tricolor’s youth teams will be in the Paulista Championship.

The Under-20 team will be back in action on Sunday (28) at 3 p.m. against São Caetano at Anacleto Campanella Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Under-17 side will play its next match against Referência on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Embu das Artes (SP).
