Chelsea’s current but temporary first team head coach Calum McFarlane has been speaking about a lack of experience in the side.
It is something that many people have spoken about over the last few years since the new owners came in at Chelsea and it something they have been heavily criticised for.
Even the managers they hire come with a lack of experience, it seems to be something that happens across the board with recruitment at the club. It’s the project they are conducting. They sign top young talents, develop them and if they make it then great, if not then they can still sell them for a bit of profit.
Having mostly young players means that they have a lack of experience and know-how in the team, something that will come with time and is starting to come a little bit now with some of the players in the team maturing. But many argue that having a few more experienced players within the mix from the off would have helped immensely, and I am inclined to agree with that.

McFarlane, who is usually the manager of the Chelsea U21s side, was asked about a lack of experience in the first team ahead of taking his final match as interim boss against Fulham tonight.
In words picked up on X, McFarlane said:
“There are a lot of really talented players. Everyone speaks about the age, but I think there’s a lot of players in this group that can really go on to be the best players in their positions at their age, with a little bit of development.
“There will always be inconsistencies with young players, and that’s probably the biggest part of the job: finding how we can make these players the best version of themselves as consistently as possible. But they’re in a really good place.”
