Independiente beat Riestra and dream of the Sudamericana

At the Guillermo Laza stadium, Independiente achieved a dramatic 1-0 victory over Deportivo Riestra in matchday 15 of Group B of the 2025 Clausura Tournament. The match featured goalkeepers Ignacio Arce and Rodrigo Rey as standout players, who kept the score at zero until the 50th minute of the second half, when Gonzalo Montiel secured the win for El Rojo. In this way, the Malevo’s long unbeaten home streak came to an end, stopping at 27 matches.

In the final round, Independiente will host Rosario Central, while Riestra will visit Godoy Cruz. El Rojo, in addition to needing a win, depends on other results to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana, while the Malevo lost their chance to enter the Libertadores zone, although everything will be decided next Sunday.
