Independiente del Valle will not host Flamengo at Estádio Banco Guayaquil, with the 10 September Libertadores quarter-final moved to Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito. According to Coluna Do Fla, the switch is seen as a small advantage for the Brazilians, as the hosts are used to their own ground.

Details for the tie, including date, time and venue, were confirmed on Friday 28 August, and the venue change drew anger from Ecuadorian supporters online.

Quarter-final venues must have a minimum capacity of 20,000. Banco Guayaquil fits about 12,000, while Atahualpa holds 35,000.

The altitude factor remains unchanged. Both stadiums sit in Quito at 2,850 metres above sea level.

Flamengo have played twice at the Olímpico Atahualpa and are unbeaten. They beat Boca Juniors de Cali 6-3 in a 1952 friendly, then drew 2-2 with Independiente del Valle in the 2020 Recopa Sudamericana, when Bruno Henrique and Pedro scored.
