But they will be disappointed with the result at home against Myanmar, who are currently ranked 155th in the world, according to Fifa.

Myanmar got off to a lightning start, with Yan Naing Oo scoring for the visitors after just 13 seconds.

A Sunil Chhetri penalty saw India get back on level terms after 13 minutes but Ko Ko Kyaw struck six minutes after that to put Myanmar up yet again.

The Blue Tigers showed determination to level the score at 69 minutes through Jeje Lalpekhula but they were unable to find a winner in the time that remained.

India are locked in at the top of Group A in the third round of qualification and will play their final remaining match in March 2018 against Kyrgyzstan.
