Recurring individual errors again undermined Vasco's defence in a 3-0 defeat to Bragantino on Sunday in the 17th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The club continue to back head coach Renato Gaúcho in the search for stability.

According to Globo.com, the hierarchy have no plans to change the head coach. Internally, Renato's tenure is viewed positively and recent defeats are attributed to individual mistakes from some players.

All three goals stemmed from defensive lapses. Lucas Piton misjudged a header that led to Rodriguinho's opener, then João Vitor Mutano was beaten by Mosquera, whose cross allowed Pitta to get in front of Saldivia and add a second. Later, the Uruguayan compounded matters with a misplaced backpass to Léo Jardim, who was rounded by Fernando for the third.

In the previous round they were beaten 4-1 by Internacional, again amid costly errors. Inter's second, scored by Alerrandro, followed Léo Jardim giving the ball straight to Carbonero, and Vasco have now conceded nine league goals from individual mistakes.

After the Bragantino loss, executive of football Admar Lopes publicly reinforced confidence in the coach and highlighted Renato's influence in the squad. He accepted that defending the work after a 3-0 home reverse is difficult, yet inside the club the points return under Renato is seen as positive and there is belief he can deliver the stability required.
