Indonesia has recovered the body of Spaniard Fernando Martín, a former footballer and coach of Valencia’s women’s B team, after the 26 December boat accident. The search continues for two missing minors.

The national search and rescue agency, BASARNAS, said police and Labuan Bajo hospital identified the 44-year-old. It is the second body found, after rescuers recovered on Monday the body of a Spanish girl, the daughter of Martín’s wife.

Martín’s remains were found at 8:47 local time, 00:47 GMT, by a police boat, about 1.13 nautical miles from the site of the sinking. He had been travelling with his wife and four minors on a tourist vessel.

Two Spaniards, Andrea Ortuño and her daughter, were rescued after the accident. Following today’s recovery, authorities extended the operation until Wednesday to find the other two missing Spanish minors, one Martín’s son and one Ortuño’s son. The couple had married recently.

The tourist boat KM Putri Sakinah went down off Padar island, in Komodo National Park, at around 20.30 local time on 26 December, 12.30 GMT. An initial search with small boats was later expanded, and police have opened an investigation into possible crew negligence.
