Ukraine’s sports minister has challenged Gianni Infantino’s wish to bring Russia back into football.

According to L'Équipe, Matvii Bidnyi says he cannot understand why the FIFA president wants their return to official competitions.

He sets out the case for keeping sanctions in place.

In his view, easing them would risk legitimising crimes.

His comments address the prospect of Russia’s reintegration rather than any relaxation of measures.
