Enzo Maresca has been handed a boost after defender Benoit Badiashile returned to first team training on Thursday.

The Italian confirmed last month Badiashile would be out until December with a muscle injury which forced him off in the win against Liverpool.

Chelsea have struggled with injury issues at centre back at the start of the season, and injuries have limited Badiashile to just three appearances.

Badaishile’s latest setback came at the worst time as the Frenchman was starting to show some good form, and he could have established himself as a first choice centre back for Maresca.

Maresca has admitted he’s a fan of Badiashile, but the 24-year-old’s time at Chelsea has been plagued by constant injury issues.

However, it’s been reported Badiashile could return for the trip to Burnley after the international break, and in further good news he’s been pictured back in first team training.

With big games coming up against Barcelona and Arsenal at the end of the month, Badiashile’s return is a timely boost for Maresca.

Having stuck with Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana as his pairing for the last two games, Maresca will likely make changes with the games coming thick and fast in the build-up to Christmas.

Levi Colwill on track with recovery from ACL injury

Whilst Badiashile has returned to training, it’s been reported Levi Colwill is on schedule with his recovery from his ACL injury.

It’s believed Colwill has been off crutches for a month, and has suffered no set backs in his recovery at this stage of the process.

There’s hope he could return before the end of the season, but Chelsea certainly won’t try and rush him back for the sake of a few games, and will very much be thinking of his long term fitness.
