Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will have little choice but to start Alessandro Bastoni in the centre of a back three against Como.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They note how injuries have forced the Nerazzurri coach’s hand.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is now staring down a full-blown injury crisis.
The Nerazzurri coach has been without Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard for several weeks due to injury.
That has limited the degree to which Inzaghi has been able to rotate his squad in depth.
But Inter have just about coped in the last few weeks. They have relied on very solid performances from Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij, and Yann Bisseck.
However, things have gotten even harder to manage for Inzaghi.
Yesterday, Inzaghi confirmed that he will be missing two more options for the back three.
De Vrij has picked up a minor injury. As has Matteo Darmian.
Therefore, at most that pair may be available on the bench against Como this evening.
As far as the starting eleven, Bastoni and Bisseck starting has become absolutely necessary.
And according to Tuttosport, Inzaghi’s preference would be to play Bisseck in the centre of the back three.
The German had put in a good display there against Udinese in the Coppa Italia last week. Darmian started on the right, and Bastoni on the left.
But Darmian also being out means that there would be no one left to cover the right side of the back three.
Therefore, Bisseck will play there this evening. Then, Bastoni will play in the middle, and Carlos Augusto will start on the left.
