Real Madrid stare at a massive week ahead with two European heavyweights set to face off against them in less than seven days.

Their busy week begins with a clash against Juventus at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League, and Los Blancos will look to keep their perfect streak in the competition going.

Xabi Alonso & co. will then lock horns against the defending champions Barcelona in La Liga at home once more. The game at the weekend, needless to say, will be one where they look for revenge after being swept clean by the Blaugrana last season.

Ahead of the massive week, Real Madrid’s defence was clearly the single biggest concern, especially with Dean Huijsen out and the club lacking a natural right-back.

Carlos Rodriguez, however, now brings a positive update for Xabi Alonso and Co.

A big boost

As relayed by the journalist, Trent Alexander-Arnold completed the first part of training with the group earlier today and is on the cusp of returning to the squad.

Needless to say, this comes as a massive boost for the team who have been operating without a natural right-back after the new signing and Dani Carvajal suffered concurrent injuries.

If everything goes to plan, the former Liverpool star could even be included in Real Madrid’s squad to face Juventus midweek and will thus certainly be available for El Clasico at the weekend.

Considering that Trent is coming back from a medium-term injury, the manager will not look to push him directly into the starting lineup but all signs point to him making a cameo off the bench against the Bianconeri.

Should his cameo go well and he look match-fit midweek, a starting role cannot be ruled out against Barcelona – albeit it will completely depend on his physical sensations.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has not particularly set the world on fire after arriving at Real Madrid but has been decent in his limited time as a starter. He has played just four games in La Liga and one in Europe and is yet to directly contribute to goal.
