The 27-year-old Robin Hack faces another spell out after suffering an adductor muscle fibre tear during training, shortly after his return to team sessions.

“Everything was actually going really well for Robin. Unfortunately, he has now suffered this fiber tear. As a result, he’s out again,” Gladbach coach Eugen Polanski told Bild.

He added that the news is “not welcome” for either the player or the club.

Hack has been a key figure for Die Fohlen in recent seasons, but he has made just five appearances this campaign, scoring twice.

On the brighter side for Gladbach, Nathan Ngoumou has resumed parts of team training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Polanski said he is “still very far from the Bundesliga squad”, with the club taking a cautious approach to his return.
