Bitter news from FC Bayern: youngster Louis Richter has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture, meaning the talented attacking player from the second team will be out of action for months

Cruciate ligament rupture halts Richter’s rise

The attacking midfielder suffered a serious injury in the second team’s match against Hankofen-Hailing and Richter had to be substituted shortly after half-time

The diagnosis was devastating shortly afterwards: a torn cruciate ligament

FC Bayern have now officially confirmed the injury and sent words of encouragement to the youngster on their website: „We sincerely wish you a speedy recovery and a speedy return to the pitch, Louis.“

The serious injury comes at a particularly bad time for Richter. Born in Dachau, he is one of FC Bayern’s own youngsters and has been playing for the club since 2014. The 20-year-old has already been struggling with injury problems this season

A thigh injury kept him out of action until November and he was only able to return to the pitch shortly before the winter break. In February, Richter finally scored his first goal of the season in the derby against Unterhaching

However, the next setback followed just a few days later

Hopes of playing professionally dashed for the time being

FC Bayern have not announced exactly how long Richter will be out of action, but it is already clear that the attacking player will not feature again this season

The club has stated that the 20-year-old will have to take several months off

Richter had not yet played a competitive match for the first team, but was regarded internally as an exciting attacking talent

Following his serious injury, the youngster will now have to embark on a long rehabilitation process and is likely to make another attempt at playing in the 2026/27 season.
