Duvan Vergara confirmed he will try to be eligible for Rayados de Monterrey in the 2023 Liga MX Clausura, returning to training after a year-long spell on the sidelines.

The Colombian forward tore his ACL in January 2022, forcing him to sit out the 2022 Clausura and Apertura campaigns. He underwent surgery and rehabilitation throughout the year, and will now join the team for preseason training.

"We are going little by little. As I told the coach, I have trained very little, but I feel very good, with a lot of strength. I have to gain that confidence that I need, the coach is giving it to me, the truth is I am happy because the hardest part is behind me,” he said.

Vergara joined Rayados on July 8, 2021 from Colombian team America de Cali. He managed five goals in 22 appearances during the 2021 Apertura, before picking up the knee injury.

Despite minimal playing time with Rayados, Vergara insists he remains with 'the same enthusiasm as when I arrived.'

"I have the same enthusiasm as when I arrived, I hope things work out for me, what happened to me was not easy, an injury, I was 10 months without playing and what I like to do is play, and have fun on the pitch, I saw recovery far away, and now I'm close to it," he concluded.

The 2023 Clausura kicks off on January 6, giving Vergara a couple of weeks to prepare.
