Liverpool have been slated for their efforts in the Premier League so far this season.
Fifteen points are on the board, but the last matches have been gut-wrenching losses, with an unsuccessful trip to Turkey in the Champions League splitting the two contests. The form isn't great.
Of course, when you look at the start to the season in general, the Reds have seven wins and three losses, so things could definitely be a lot worse - although most fans are feeling drained right now.
Liverpool will go into the October international break sitting one point behind league leaders Arsenal, and even though it's still really early into the season, a lot of doubts are being cast over the Reds.
When you compare this season's Gunners to the Liverpool of last season, it's understandable why some might have Mikel Arteta's side as favourites to win the Premier League this time around.

Through seven games, Liverpool had six wins, one loss, 13 goals scored, two goals conceded and five clean sheets. The attack was firing, the defence was really solid and performances were good.
Meanwhile, over in North London, Arsenal currently have five wins, one draw, one loss, 12 goals scored, three goals conceded and four clean sheets. There's a level of stability to their team efforts.
Whereas Liverpool have been scrambling for results, scoring six goals in the 80th minute or later, and most recently the trend has taken a turn for the worst, as late winners are now being conceded.
The context for the underwhelming performances is the changes made to the squad in the summer, and specifically the sheer amount of them. New players haven't really had enough time to get used to playing with each other and Arne Slot is being forced to adapt the tactical setup to find cohesion.
Finding reasons to be positive is quite a difficult task right now, because you feel as though nothing is going how it should be. The outrageous transfer spend went on incredibly high-level players, yet they're unable to deliver their best for us because the individuals aren't currently working as a team.
However, there's actually quite a big reason why fans should be feeling optimistic.
On his X account, @LiamOnFootball revealed where Liverpool currently stand in comparison to their efforts in the same fixtures last season, and the 2025/26 team has outdone the title winners so far.
Against Bournemouth (H), Burnley (A) - which translates to Ipswich (H) because we're talking about the team that was promoted from the Championship in second place - Everton (H) and Chelsea (A), the results are the same, as the Reds took wins in the first three and lost at Stamford Bridge.
However, the drawn visit to Newcastle last season was replaced by a clutch winner this time around, the frustrating draw to title challengers Arsenal was bettered with a win this season, the side's visit to South London to play Crystal Palace resulted in a loss this time.
As such, while it's not quite straightforward comparing the result between the two seasons, given matches were held at different times of the campaign, it's at least some useful insight to be aware of.
Snatching an extra point this season compared to last season is not exactly the dominating narrative right now. It suggests that Liverpool are well on their way to matching or even surpassing last year.
In order to do that, the performances will need to improve. The Reds will be facing an uphill task trying to retain their title with the this current side acting how it is. But we know that several world-class players aren't quite at the races yet, and their track-records suggest that they'll learn to adapt in time. If and when that happens, we'll be having a lot of very different conversations to right now.
