Frustration and disbelief filled the Inter dressing room after the controversial penalty that set the tone for the 3-1 defeat to Napoli, with club president Giuseppe Marotta even speaking after the game to criticise the decision.
Players were furious as they rewatched the incident at halftime, with voices in the corridor shouting: “No, come on – what foul is that?”
The sense of injustice quickly grew, and club president Marotta even entered the dressing room to speak with Cristian Chivu.
Furthermore, to gauge the mood of the squad.
The controversial penalty was awarded to Napoli in the first half, much to the dismay of Inter personnel.

According to the reports, “nobody accepted with calmness such a strange decision: first no, then yes.”
The problem, they noted, was psychological.
“The team stayed stuck in that moment,” losing focus as Napoli took control after the break.
Marotta later went on camera to express the club’s position.
“I believe in the centrality of the referee, and he cannot be influenced like that in such a decision.”
