Leicester City’s mood remains low after the draw at Wrexham, with fans unhappy and Marti Cifuentes struggling to string together two good halves. Two home games against Oxford and Charlton now offer a chance to lift spirits.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, City have renewed their Macquarie loan, borrowing against Premier League central payments, including parachute money due up to June 2027. Companies House dates the agreement to January 12, following similar arrangements last summer and last January.

Staff were told at a day’s notice last month that wages would be delayed, and the club apologised. The pay date reverted to month-end and salaries landed on December 31.

The Under-21s won 3-1 at West Brom on Monday, with 15-year-old Darren Motsi scoring his third Premier League 2 goal in four games. His tally already surpasses the two Jeremy Monga managed at 15 last season.

Motsi’s pressing created the opener for Logan Briggs and Michael Golding curled in the third. City are sixth in Premier League 2 and are the division’s top scorers.

Will Alves’ first League One start in nearly four months came in defeat, after which Huddersfield dismissed Lee Grant. Liam Manning, who left Norwich after City’s last-gasp win in November and had impressed at Bristol City, now oversees him. City hope he can aid Alves’ minutes if he stays fit.

Striker Chris Popov has joined struggling National League side Morecambe on loan, debuting in Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Halifax. Managed by former City coach Ashvir Singh Johal, they now have six Leicester-linked players, also including Admiral Muskwe, George Thomas, Harry Panayiotou, Josh Eppiah and Alie Sesay.
