Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has struggled for regular opportunities at Old Trafford, and he has been linked with a move away from the club.

The player has been linked with Chelsea in recent times, and former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes that the player could be headed to the London club. Mainoo has been a target for Napoli as well.

The 20-year-old is highly rated across England, and he has a bright future ahead of himself. However, he is simply not an important player for Ruben Amorim. It would be ideal for him to move on and join a club where he will get opportunities. It will be interesting to see if he can reinvent himself at Chelsea.

Kobbie Mainoo set for exit

As per Football Insider, Keith Wyness has revealed: “I think it’s very unfair and I think that Mainoo, look, he’s a squandered talent in that sense. I just don’t think he’s, for some reason, he hasn’t caught Amorim’s eye. He thinks he doesn’t fit the style. I think that they decided that Adam Wharton is going to be one of their targets and I think that Mainoo may find himself reinventing himself at Chelsea. “That’s where I see the situation going and that’s the whispers I’ve been hearing. I think it would be good for Mainoo. I think he needs to get out of there and move forward.”

There is no doubt that the young midfielder is a phenomenal talent, and if Chelsea manages to get the best out of him, Manchester United could end up regretting their decision.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea comes forward with an offer to get the deal done in the months. The young midfielder will look to get his career back on track and play regularly. With the World Cup coming up in 2026, his chance of cementing his place in the England squad is in real Jeopardy due to the lack of time.

Ideally, the midfielder should look to secure an exit from Manchester United in January, so that he can play regularly during the second half of the campaign.
