FC Bayern are pressing ahead with the signing of Nathaniel Brown. The Eintracht Frankfurt international is considered the ideal candidate for the left wing. But according to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Munich should not hesitate too much longer. The reason: the upcoming World Cup could make the transfer much more complicated
Nathaniel Brown is currently one of FC Bayern’s hottest transfer targets. The 22-year-old has developed into one of Germany’s most exciting full-backs at Eintracht Frankfurt in recent months and is said to have already signaled his willingness in principle to move to Munich
While talks with the player are said to be at an advanced stage, there is still no agreement between the two clubs
The transfer fee is currently the biggest sticking point
According to consistent media reports, Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding a total package of around 60 million euros, while Bayern would like to realize the deal for around 50 million euros
It is precisely this difference that could now become a problem
In an interview with RTL, transfer insider Florian Plettenberg made it clear that, in his opinion, Munich should act as quickly as possible. „As of today, Bayern have not yet made an offer for Brown, but they shouldn’t let too much time pass,“ emphasized Plettenberg
He is particularly clear about the attitude of those responsible in Frankfurt: „Bayern want to pay 50, Markus Krösche wants 60 and if Krösche wants 60, then he wants 60 and not 59,“ says the Sky reporter
Krösche is regarded as one of the most consistent managers in the Bundesliga and has repeatedly shown in the past that he rarely compromises on his asking price
For FC Bayern, this means that the longer the negotiations take, the greater the risk could become

According to Plettenberg, the upcoming World Cup, in particular, is an additional source of tension
If Brown impresses in the DFB jersey, other interested parties could come onto the scene. Clubs from the Premier League in particular have been linked with the Frankfurt player for some time. „The longer this poker lasts, the more difficult it will be for Bayern. I’m quite sure of that,“ explains Plettenberg
And he continues: „Because if another Englishman wakes up tomorrow and thinks: ‚He’s really exciting, we’ll bid 70 for him‘, then Krösche won’t say that I’ve already agreed to Bayern for 55 plus 5.“
From Munich’s point of view, such a bidding war would be anything but desirable, as the record champions continue to pursue a clear cost-cutting strategy and do not want to get involved in excessive transfer fees
The case of Anthony Gordon has already shown that Bayern are prepared to break off negotiations if financial limits are exceeded, with the Englishman ultimately opting for FC Barcelona
Those responsible at Brown would like to avoid this scenario as far as possible. At the same time, however, they know that a World Cup can massively change a player’s market value within a few weeks. „Anything can happen at a World Cup,“ Plettenberg concluded, summing up the situation
The next few days could therefore be decisive. If FC Bayern really do want to sign their dream player before the tournament begins, negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt could soon get underway.
