Inter plot to make their squad younger in the next few windows and have set sights on one of the brightest Portuguese talents, Joao Rego, who’s starting to blossom at Benfica. He has earned the moniker of the ‘next Joao Felix’ for his traits.
According to Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri have scouted him a few times already. He can play as a false-nine or second striker, but he’s been adapting to the right wing as of late. He’s very unpredictable and excellent at taking opponents on.
A bidding war is already brewing for Rego, as, in addition to Inter, Juventus and especially Chelsea are following him attentively as well. His team would want to be compensated adequately to sell him before he flourished completely.
The 19-year-old has starred twice with the first team so far, something he’ll do more often in the next few months. Instead, he’s been a regular for Benfica B and the U-23 squad in recent campaigns. He has tallied 2 goals and 5 assists in 32 matches in Liga Portugal 2. The prodigy has been productive in the Youth League and has four caps with Portugal U-20.
He comes from an expensive boutique that’s routinely in the crosshairs of the Premier League powerhouses, so the other suitors would have to move early to have a chance. The Nerazzurri would have to put their money where the mouth is and take a shot on some talents if they are serious in their intent. It won’t come cheap.
