Inter and Milan are taking their time to consider all the possible options regarding their future stadium, but Milan Mayor Beppe Sala claims that clubs are expected to decide in the next few days on whether to build a new arena in the San Siro neighbourhood.

The Italian Tax Office recently told the two clubs that the area around the existing Stadio San Siro is valued at around €200m.

This is the fee they would be required to pay to purchase the territory where their current home is located, a necessary step in order to build a new stadium next to it, which is a scenario that Inter and Milan are ‘taking into account’, as Rossoneri president Paolo Scaroni admitted after a meeting that he described as ‘positive’.

Sala: Inter and Milan are taking San Siro decision in ‘these days’

All the parties involved are waiting for a move from Inter and Milan to move on with the plan, as city Mayor Beppe Sala underlined.

“Let’s forget the estimate made by the Italian Tax Office for a moment,” Sala told reporters, as quoted by TMW.

“Now the ball is in the two teams’ court, to use a footballing expression. If they present a manifestation of interest, everything can speed up and be clarified.

“I think they are taking a decision these days.”

Building a newly shared stadium in the San Siro neighbourhood is not the only plan for the two teams, as they have both looked at other options in the city suburbs as potential areas to erect a new arena.
