With the Champions League final looming large on May 31st at Munich’s Allianz Arena, former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has given his verdict on the clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan – tipping the Italian side as “more complete”, but not necessarily stronger.Speaking to RMC Sport, Marchisio, who played in two Champions League finals with Juventus (2015 and 2017), highlighted Inter’s balance across the pitch: “I don’t think Inter are stronger, but I do find them more complete – in terms of organisation, both offensively and defensively.”He was keen to underline, however, the unpredictability of a one-off final: “Anything can happen in a single match. It will be a great final. The 38-year-old was in attendance at the Parc des Princes as PSG saw off Arsenal 2-1 in the second leg of their semi-final. Reflecting on the Ligue 1 champions’ run to the final, he offered warm praise for Luis Enrique’s men.“PSG have grown throughout the Champions League campaign, especially in that tie against Manchester City. They’re a talented team and they’ve shown that this season.”
Marchisio also noted the balance between youth and experience within the Paris squad, adding that “Luis Enrique has experience, the team is young but also experienced. They’re ready to give everything to win.”
One of the standout figures in PSG’s run has been Ousmane Dembélé, who has flourished in a central role in recent weeks. The former Barcelona man’s influence has not gone unnoticed by Marchisio. “He’s found more serenity this season, having shared dressing rooms with stars like Neymar and Mbappé. He’s become more decisive, taken on responsibility, helped the team. He’s grown in personality.”GFFN | George Boxall
