The new Serie A season begins today and, according to Football Italia, their panel unanimously tip Inter to retain the Scudetto, with Monza among the relegation picks.

There are four opening-day fixtures, including defending champions Inter against newly promoted Monza, two clubs heavily featured in the predictions but for very different reasons.

Inter secured a 21st title last term in Cristian Chivu’s first year in charge. No side has retained the Scudetto since Juventus did so in the 2019-20 campaign under Maurizio Sarri.

The European race divides opinion. Susy and Lorenzo put Max Allegri’s Napoli in the top four, while Peter and Sam opt for Milan. Susy has Milan in the Europa League places, whereas Lorenzo even has them outside Europe.

Como are backed to land either a Champions League or Europa League berth, depending on the writer. Conference League selections vary between Fiorentina, Roma and Atalanta.

Relegation forecasts most commonly include Monza, Lecce and Frosinone. Venezia and Cagliari also appear in individual drop-zone trios.
