After dominating the opening stages, Marko Arnautović fired Inter in front as he raced into the box and thumped an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.

Mid way through the first-half, Martínez doubled the Nerazzurri's lead, racing onto Arnautovic's pass and poking his finish past Elia Caprile.

Cagliari pulled a goal back early in the second half when Roberto Piccoli headed into the net from Tommaso Augello's cross.

Inter quickly restored their two-goal advantage through Yann Aurel Bisseck's towering header from Federico Dimarco's corner.

The Isolani almost struck a second in the closing stages, but Piccoli's goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by Stefan de Vrij.

Simone Inzaghi's side extended their winning run at the San Siro to eight consecutive matches, while Cagliari remain winless in seven straight away games.
