“He has been dealing with a minor ankle issue since before the break,” Inzaghi said at a pre-match press conference.

“He must be assessed because he felt discomfort today. We hope we won’t lose him, as he’s very important to us.”

Calhanoglu and Lautaro missed Saturday’s 5-0 victory against Hellas Verona but are expected to be involved against RB Leipzig. Acerbi didn’t play in Verona and will also miss tomorrow’s fixture.

“They [Lautaro and Calhanoglu] trained well today. I will decide on the line-up tomorrow,” said Inzaghi.

“Luckily, Acerbi has no lesions, and we hope he can recover by Sunday. It will be quicker than the last time.”

Yann Bisseck scored his first goal this season against Verona, and Inzaghi is eager to see even more developments from the German defender.

“I’d like to see Bisseck in the middle or on the left too, even if Bastoni would be the best option without Acerbi and de Vrij because he already played there with the national team,” said the Nerazzurri boss.

Inzaghi is also satisfied with Taremi’s contribution, even though the Iran international has only scored one goal in 14 appearances.

“I am happy with how he’s working. He knew there would be competition,” said the Nerazzurri boss.

“He had a minor problem in the last couple of weeks, but I trust him greatly, and he must continue as he does.”

RB Leipzig have lost four Champions League games from four, including one against Juventus.

“They’ve been playing in the Champions League for six years,” concluded Inzaghi.

“Until last Saturday, they were the less-beaten defence in the Bundesliga. They have excellent players, and the table does not reflect their performances in the competition.”
