The Inter supporter who threw the firework that struck Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero has apologised ‘to the player, the two clubs and all the fans.’
The incident during last week’s Serie A match at the Stadio Zini saw a firework thrown from the away end, hitting Audero on the leg and exploding right next to him.
He was able to continue after treatment, but it could’ve been so much worse, and drew condemnation from all areas of Italian football.

The fan has been identified as a 19-year-old who damaged two fingers by trying to throw another firework soon after in the same game.
He was arrested and is now facing prison for his actions.
“I apologise to Audero, to the two clubs, and to all the fans,” was his statement given to news agency ANSA.
His lawyer also explained the approach that they were taking to this court case, with Inter adding their names as parties who sustained financial damage from the €50,000 fine for his actions.
“He should not have thrown that firework, but he did not think about the possible consequences, which were that the goalkeeper could get close to it and be stunned by the explosion.”
The initial request awaiting trial is for the teenager to be confined to house arrest.
