Inter make their Serie A debut tonight, but it won’t be a good atmosphere, as the Curva Nord announced they will boycott San Siro ‘until further notice.’

The Week 1 fixture against Torino kicks off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Both Inter and AC Milan ultras have been protesting at new rules clamping down on the organised fan groups, which were somewhat inevitable considering the investigation into their connections in recent months.

While Milan supporters did remain in their places on Saturday in the 2-1 home defeat to Cremonese, Inter were expected to do the same tonight.

Instead, the Curva Nord released a statement announcing they would “change tack” and “from today the organised groups will remain outside the Stadio Meazza until further notice.”

They are angry that certain fans have been ‘blacklisted’ from entering the stadium, along with limits on their banners and flags, which need to be given permission to enter.

The statement also urges other fans in the stadium to join the protest by sitting in their seats in silence.

The motto taken on by both the Inter and Milan groups is a message to the crowd outside of their Curva areas: “Enjoy your theatre.”
