Former AC Milan and Inter Milan player Christian Panucci has offered a wide-ranging reflection on his career and the Serie A title race in a new interview with Corriere della Sera, highlighting the work Cristian Chivu has done at Inter.

Now based in Dubai, Panucci described his enduring bond with the capital club, with quotes via FCInter1908.

“Rome wasn’t the most beautiful woman I’ve ever had, but the one I loved the most.”

His year with Inter, however, remains memorable for different reasons.

“I left Madrid to wear the Nerazzurri shirt,” he recalled.

“People talked a lot about my relationship with Lippi, but you can’t get along with everyone.”

Looking ahead to Roma vs Inter, Panucci believes experience will be decisive.

“Inter arrive with a group that’s been together for years and already knows how to win. Around Roma there’s excitement, but they’re going beyond expectations.”

He singled out Lautaro Martinez as the man to watch: “Among the Nerazzurri, especially without Thuram, I’d say Lautaro. He can make the difference.”

For Panucci, Inter’s structure gives them a clear advantage in the title race.

“If Chivu manages to clear the players’ minds of what happened in Monaco, they’re in pole position for the Scudetto,” he insisted.

“The club has everything to win.”

Panucci Defends Chivu As Intelligent & Backs Inter For Serie A

“Only in Italy do people think someone with 600 career appearances isn’t ready for Serie A.

“Cristian had great football intelligence even back when we played together. Football should be run by those who understand it.”

Finally, his title prediction was clear: “Napoli and Inter are the favourites. Juventus are strong, but without Bremer they lose a lot of defensive solidity.”

Panucci’s message is simple – no excuses for Inter.

With Chivu’s leadership and a champion’s mentality, the Scudetto remains firmly within their reach.
