Inter Miami CF have acquired midfielder Matías Galarza on loan from Argentine powerhouse River Plate through 2026 with a purchase option, the club announced Thursday.

The 24-year-old Paraguay international started four games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and scored a game-winning goal vs. Türkiye. His efforts helped La Albirroja make the Round of 16.

Galarza spent the first half of the 2026 MLS season on loan with Atlanta United. He contributed one assist in 10 matches (eight starts).

Before his MLS stints, Galarza accrued more than 150 games across several South American clubs. He's played for Vasco da Gama and Coritiba in Brazil, as well as Talleres and River Plate in Argentina.

Internationally, Galarza has scored four goals in 19 matches with Paraguay.

Galarza is part of a busy summer transfer window for Inter Miami, who previously added superstar Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, rising Ecuadorian defender Fricio Caicedo and young Brazilian winger Riquelme Fillipi.

The Herons, led by new head coach Kily González, are looking to become the first back-to-back MLS Cup winners since the LA Galaxy in 2011-12.

They're currently second in the Eastern Conference (42 points) and third in the Supporters' Shield race.
