MIAMI – The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 continues with hosts Inter Miami CF facing reigning UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The occasion presents the second competitive match between an MLS side and a French opponent, after PSG recently faced former Concacaf Champions Cup winners Seattle Sounders FC in the group stage.
Inter Miami entered the Round of 16 securing one of the top two spots in Group A with an undefeated 1-2-0 record for five points. The Florida side’s debut campaign at a Club World Cup began with a nil-nil draw against Al Ahly FC, followed by a historic comeback to defeat FC Porto 2-1 in its first-ever encounter against a European rival, and a thrilling 2-2 draw against SE Palmeiras.
Inter Miami will look to extend its current unbeaten streak (W3, D3) across all competitions to advance to the quarterfinals.
First team captain Lionel Messi has been involved in seven goals in nine career starts against the French side (six goals and one assist), with six of those starts coming while playing under current PSG manager Luis Enrique during his time at FC Barcelona.

PSG advanced to the Round of 16 after topping Group B with six points with a 2-0-1 record. The current European champions opened with a 4-nil win against Atlético Madrid, followed by a 1-nil defeat to Botafogo and a 2-nil victory over the Seattle Sounders. Six different PSG players scored the team’s six goals throughout the group stage.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been directly involved in half of goals scored by the Paris side at the Club World Cup (one goal, two assists).
