Inter Miami complete deal for defensive reinforcement

Inter Miami have completed the loan-signing of River Plater defender David Martínez, who will join the south Florida club until July 2025.

Along with making 118 senior appearances for River and Defensa y Justicia respectively, the 26-year-old has accumulated 11 caps for his home nation of Paraguay.

“I’m really happy and excited to join Inter Miami. I was thrilled about the opportunity to come here. Finally, it’s happened, and I’m really happy to get this new chapter in my career started,” Martínez said. “The goal here is to help the team, keep growing, and hopefully, win some titles.”

Martínez’s addition will bring some much needed depth to an injury-riddled defensive core for Tata Martino just days before they begin their Leagues Cup campaign against Mexican outfit Puebla.
