Inter Miami’s wait for a first home win at the Nu Stadium continued with a 1-1 draw against the New England Revolution. According to interheron.com, the Herons have been excellent away, losing only once, but remain unconvincing at home.
They began brightly, with German Berterame, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi combining fluently, yet Matt Turner’s saves denied an early breakthrough.
The Revolution struck first, and Miami finally levelled in the 76th minute, 20 minutes after falling behind.
A back three brought first-half stability, with Noah Allen effective as a wide midfielder or wing-back, but removing a central defender unbalanced Miami and blunted their attack.
Ratings: Dayne St. Clair 7, Noah Allen 6.5, Micael 6.8, Maxi Falcon 6.5, Gonzalo Lujan 6.3, Facundo Mura 6.6. David Ruiz 6, Rodrigo De Paul 6.8, Luis Suarez 7, Lionel Messi 7.9, German Berterame 8. Subs: Tadeo Allende 6.7, Preston Plambeck 6.3, Ian Fray 6.5, Cesar Abadia-Reda 6.
St. Clair made several important saves to keep Miami in it. De Paul created five chances, the most on the pitch, with Messi on four and influential without a goal or assist. Allende had a finish ruled offside and added much-needed pace.
Suarez may have earned his start, provided he keeps linking with Messi and Berterame. With Orlando City next at home, a win is certainly on the cards for the men in pink.
