Inter Miami has submitted a formal proposal to sign Casemiro, taking the first concrete step toward landing the Brazilian midfielder as a free agent when he leaves Manchester United this summer.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Casemiro is open to joining Miami, with the sports project and opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi weighing heavily in the decision. Family considerations are also influencing his choice.
The negotiation remains ongoing, with European and Saudi clubs also monitoring the 34-year-old's situation. However, Inter Miami holds an early advantage by being the first to present a formal offer.
The primary obstacle is financial. Casemiro's current Manchester United salary—estimated at over $20 million annually—far exceeds MLS salary cap limits. Inter Miami would need to structure the deal using a Designated Player slot or create significant salary cap space to make the signing viable.
LA Galaxy complicates the process by holding Casemiro's MLS discovery rights, meaning any league club must compensate Galaxy before signing the midfielder.
If completed, Casemiro would partner with Rodrigo De Paul in Miami's midfield. De Paul currently earns $7.5 million guaranteed this season, forming what could be a formidable central midfield pairing for the Herons.
