Inter Miami have provided an injury update on Lionel Messi after the Argentine was subbed off against Necaxa in the Leagues Cup Saturday evening.

Messi was replaced just before the half-hour mark after going to ground clutching his leg.

To ease the worry among Herons fans, the club have released an update on the status of the legendary forward.

"Messi underwent medical tests to evaluate the extent of the muscle discomfort he experienced during last night’s Leagues Cup match against Necaxa, which forced him to leave the field," the statement read.

"The results confirmed a minor muscle injury in his right leg. His medical clearance will depend on his clinical progress and response to treatment."

Next up for Miami is their final match of the Leagues Cup league phase against Pumas on Wednesday.
