A few days ago, Sergio Busquets announced that he would be hanging up his boots at the end of the MLS season. The FC Barcelona legend has even already chosen his next career move.
For days now, the football world in Spain has been eagerly awaiting what Sergio Busquets plans to bring to the game after dazzling the “culés” in Catalonia. This anticipation comes in the wake of the player’s decision to retire at the end of the current MLS season.
Last night, Inter Miami paid tribute to Sergio Busquets after their emphatic win over the New England Revolution, a match highlighted by three assists from Lionel Messi and braces from both Jordi Alba and Tadeo Allende. The Spanish midfielder officially confirmed his retirement at the end of the season.
But the World and European champion with Spain has no intention of leaving football behind. Busquets already has a clear vision for the role he wants to take on in the near future. “In a year and a half, maybe I’ll be able to start working towards my coaching badges,” he revealed after the match. Busquets also made it clear that he will continue to follow his lifelong club, albeit from afar: “I am a Barça supporter and, even if I see a role within the team as still distant, I will keep following every match.”
