Inter Miami have signed Ecuadorian defender Fricio Caicedo on loan from Costa Rican side FC Moravia FCM until the conclusion of the 2027 Major League Soccer (MLS) Sprint Season, the club said in a statement. The 18-year-old is eligible for a U22 Initiative slot, subject to a P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.
He stands 6-foot-4 and is a left-footed centre-back. A product of LDU Quito’s academy, he also spent a season with their U-20s while developing in Ecuador and Costa Rica.
Caicedo said he aims to play, earn minutes, become a starter and win trophies. He explained that joining Miami fulfils a dream to play alongside Messi, whom he regards as the best in the world, and that he wants to make history by showing his ability.
Sporting director Alberto Marrero called him a young defender with significant potential and a promising future. He said Miami offers an ideal environment for steady development and highlighted Caicedo’s physicality, aerial strength and speed to loose balls.
Internationally, Caicedo has represented Ecuador at youth and senior level. He was recently called up by head coach Sebastián Beccacece during preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and made his senior debut as a second-half substitute in a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia. He is set to reinforce Inter Miami’s defensive line, and the club hold an option to make the move permanent.
