The first half between Inter Miami and Tigres has come to an end. Unfortunately, the Herons are currently down 1-0 with 45 minutes remaining. The team led by Tata Martino is not demonstrating their usual level of play in this match. Simple mistakes in passing, lack of defensive solidity, failure to react and recover the ball after loss, and resorting to meaningless long balls sum up the first half of Inter Miami.
This version of Inter Miami is not the same as the ones we've seen in their recent games. I understand that they are classified into the next round already, but they must finish first in the group to avoid facing tough opponents in the future. They must improve in the second half to turn things around.
The Herons have to attack from the sidelines to the center. Not in the middle of the field with a solid and well-positioned Tigres. That way, the attack will never prosper. On the other hand, on the sides of Weigandt and Taylor, adding Redondo or Rojas, Inter Miami can easily hurt Tigres and get more scoring chances.
Another advantage that Inter Miami can use is the corner kicks. Tigres UANL does not have good headers, and Guzman, the goalkeeper, does not go out to clear unless the ball comes close to him. The Leagues Cup 2023 champions showed they had plays prepared for corner kicks, which ended with an attacking opportunity from Jordi Alba. They need to continue innovating and use this more in the game.
Finally, Miami must sacrifice possession of the ball to get the best result. What do I mean by sacrificing possession? Let Tigres have the ball, and then Inter Miami put constant pressure on them to force them to make mistakes and take advantage of that situation.
This last sentence is to recognize the great game our number 42, Bright, is doing. Inter Miami's best player at the moment.
There are still 45 minutes left. Herons, we can do it.
