Francesco Pio Esposito and Carlos Augusto were Inter Milan’s standout performers in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Atalanta, earning the joint-highest ratings of any Nerazzurri player in Gazzetta dello Sport’s post-match player assessments.
Both the Italy starlet and the Brazil defender received a 6.5 from the outlet, via FCInterNews.
Indeed, they were the only Inter players to finish above a six in what was a largely underwhelming collective display.
Carlos Augusto impressed in the unfamiliar left centre-back role, stepping in admirably for the absent Bastoni.
Meanwhile Esposito continued his consistent form in attack despite Inter’s struggles to create clear-cut chances.
At the other end of the scale, Marcus Thuram, Ange-Yoan Bonny and head coach Cristian Chivu all received a 5.
Therefore, the lowest marks of the day.
The two French forwards struggled whilst the coach failed to get a hold on the game tactically.
Sommer, Akanji, Zielinski and Sucic were handed 5.5s, while the remaining Inter players scraped a passing grade of six.
It was a performance that reflected the difficulties of navigating a crucial fixture without Lautaro, Calhanoglu and Bastoni.
And, indeed, the ratings tell the story of a side that ground out a point rather than one that imposed itself on the game.
