Manuel Akanji and Marcus Thuram failed to live up to expectations in last night’s Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Bodo/Glimt.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the star duo struggled to bring their A-game to the table.
Despite enjoying a superb debut season in Serie A, Manuel Akanji emerged as the main culprit for Inter’s European fiasco.
Indeed, his unfathomable mistake set the tone for Bodo/Glimt’s unexpected triumph at San Siro.
Furthermore, his feeble attempt to atone for that error came a cropped, with the woodwork denying his low shot late in the game.

Inter mustered 30 shots, including seven on target, generating an impressive 2.14 xG.
However, the absence of star striker Lautaro Martinez ultimately left them without the cutting edge required to turn dominance into progression.
Indeed, Francesco Pio Esposito and Thuram failed to live up to the billing, struggling to fill the void left by their injured captain.
Despite scoring in the first leg, the Italian center-forward never put Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin to the test tonight.
